Pinterest Marriage proposals are made in a variety of ways. Some of the best ones submitted to The New York Times this year included a mother-daughter proposal in Manhattan, a blood-chilling proposal in the Bronx, a royal proposal in Washington and a counterproposal in California. Not to be upstaged, there were two theatrical proposals, one in an empty theater in Massachusetts and another on a Broadway stage — and that was just the half of it.

There was no shortage of international proposals, either.

If a bill in the California Legislature become law, campus health centers at public universities would be required to provide abortion pills. Connie Leyva introduced the bill, SB , in February It would require all health centers within the University of California and California State University systems to stock the drugs prescribed for medication abortion and ready their campus health clinics to provide them by Medication abortion involves two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol, that a woman can take at a clinic or at home to terminate pregnancies less than 10 weeks along.

The campaign for the bill began at University of California, Berkeley in , when the student government passed a resolution urging the health center there to include medication abortion in its services. Adiba Khan, co-founder of Students United for Reproductive Justice and the author of the resolution, noticed that the student health service offered 18 forms of contraception, but not abortion.

The bill is moving ahead in the California Legislature even as other states have taken steps to limit access to medication abortion. The Oklahoma Legislature passed a bill that was signed into law in that set a strict protocol for the drugs involved in medication abortion; it was initially overturned in the state courts, then upheld and was overturned again in In Louisiana, a law requiring that all aborted tissue be buried or cremated — an impossible task in the case of medication abortion — is currently suspended as the state court tries it.

And as of last fall, the Missouri health department requires any facilities providing medication abortion to contract with an OB-GYN who can be on call around the clock to personally handle any complications. Opponents of the bill in California are unsure that public university health centers should provide medication abortions. Anna Arend, the Northern California Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America, testified during the Senate education committee hearing on behalf of student groups across California that oppose the bill.

Scott told the Associated Press Saturday, Sept. Her departure came after WADA made changes to some of the most stringent requirements to bring the Russian anti-doping agency back into compliance following a nearly three-year suspension. Last Friday, however, WADA released a statement saying that its compliance review committee had recommended RUSADA’s reinstatement and that the issue would, in fact, be decided at the upcoming meeting. It said the proposal would prevent the undoing of the progress the agency has made since its suspension in following the uncovering of a state program designed to help athletes cheat without getting caught, all in the name of winning medals at the Olympics and other major events.

A day after the compliance committee’s recommendation, a key member of the panel, Olympic champion cross-country skier Beckie Scott, resigned. On Monday, iNADO — which represents anti-doping operations in 67 countries — issued a two-page news release.

Katie Uhlaender is going to the Olympics for the fourth time, still looking for her first medal. That is, unless she’s seeking a second. Uhlaender was nominated Monday to the U. John Daly is headed to the games for a third time, bronze medalist Matt Antoine is going for a second time and Kendall Wesenberg will be making her Olympic debut. They have grit and are determined to lay it on the line and give it all they’ve got in Korea, so we expect big things.

The bronze medalist from that competition, Russia’s Elena Nikitina, had her medal stripped and her eligibilty for future Olympics revoked because of doping violations. What was Nikitina’s medal will likely be reallocated at some point, and that means it would go to Uhlaender — but that hasn’t yet happened. So for now, Uhlaender may arrive in South Korea unsure if she’s a medalist or not. The Americans got two medals in Sochi, with now-retired Noelle Pikus-Pace winning silver in the women’s race and Antoine taking bronze in the men’s event.

That total would go to three when, or if, Uhlaender finally gets her bronze. Getting even one in Pyeongchang looks like it’ll be a challenge for the U. No American has medaled in any World Cup race this season.

I downloaded about 40 news apps and played with them, looking for those that target the needs of the mobile user and didn’t simply duplicate a news site.
